Lynne Hamrick decided there were monumental things she wanted to accomplish before her 50th birthday. To make herself accountable and accomplish her goals she was inspired to create a bucket list. Her bucket list contained several items. Some items were small and easy to cross off and others were bigger and took much more time to complete. Some items on the list could be completed right here in the CSRA and others would require her to travel all the way to New York. As Lynne made her way through her list there was one item that had been harder than others to cross off, finishing school and obtaining her degree. After several years and two months before her 50th birthday, Lynne can now cross this ambitious goal off her list. She has earned her associate degree in information technology with a paralegal emphasis from Aiken Technical College.
Before Hull Barrett and obtaining her degree, Lynne worked in the medical field as an operating room medical clerk at University Hospital. Three years later, she moved to the Department of Health Environmental Control (DHEC) to aid in their mission of promoting and protecting the health of the public and environment. After taking several years off when her son was born, she rejoined the workforce in 1993 to work for Robert Bell, Aiken’s County Attorney for 25 years. At Bell & Surasky, P.C., Mr. Bell and Mr. Surasky thoroughly trained Lynne on workers compensation, personal injury, social security, planning and zoning, family and real estate law.
Five years later and with a wealth of knowledge of South Carolina law, Lynne joined the Hull Barrett family and began working in the Augusta, Georgia office. That year the firm was growing rapidly and many clients required legal representation in Aiken, South Carolina and the surrounding area. Hull, Towill, Norman and Barrett merged with the Aiken firm of Henderson & Salley to become Hull, Towill, Norman, Barrett & Salley with a new location serving the Aiken community. With the new office, Lynne and attorney Rand Hanna moved to the South Carolina office where she provided paralegal assistance with commercial and residential real estate closings and foreclosures, provided trial prep and exceptional audits for title insurance. From 2005-2008, Lynne provided on site paralegal assistance for Norfolk Southern following the Graniteville chemical spill. She assisted the class administrator for the evacuation and property damage class action and was the class administrator for the personal injury class action. As class administrator, she handled the claims, money and medical liens. Lynne now is working in Hull Barrett’s new office, located in Evans, Georgia, helping Michael Fowler with real estate closings and aiding the firm’s litigation, medical malpractice and real estate teams.
“Lynne has always been a team player and has always helped out on different projects whenever we have needed her. She is extremely intelligent, dedicated and takes ownership of matters entrusted to her. Lynne can handle any type of matter, from complex corporate transactions to class action lawsuits." said executive partner, Rand Hanna. “She is truly client-focused and enjoys working with outside organizations and firms, as they enjoy working with her too.” Indeed, Lynne’s favorite part of the job is dealing with people and watching Hull Barrett’s business grow.
Lynne has been married for 29 years to her husband Blake. They have two children, Daniel & Ryane and two grandchildren Kailee and Blake. In her spare time, Lynne enjoys reading and sewing, and she creates quilts, childrens clothes and embroidery for her business SewNeat. She is actively involved in the National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI), which is a non-profit, grassroots, self-help and advocacy organization of consumers, families and friends of persons with serious mental illness. She currently serves as the Aiken’s chapter vice president and is a certified instructor for NAMI BASICS, which teaches tools and coping skills to parents or other caregivers of individuals who develop the symptoms of mental illness prior to the age of 18.
Congratulations Lynne on your 10+ years with the firm and for obtaining your degree! We look forward to following you and your bucket list and wish you the best in crossing more items off the list.
