Did you know the risk of any single individual developing cancer by age 20 is approximately one in 330? In the United States, approximately 10,500 children under age 15 and 3,700 adolescents ages 15-19 are newly diagnosed with cancer each year. That is roughly the equivalent of two average size classrooms (35-46 kids) diagnosed each school day. Cancer is the fourth leading cause of death overall (in children 1-19 years of age), and the leading cause of disease related death. It remains responsible for more deaths than asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and AIDS combined and takes roughly, 150,000 lives a year.
How Can you Help?
September is recognized as National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. This September, CURE Childhood Cancer has committed to raising awareness and raising money to help find a cure for childhood cancer in our lifetime and put an end to this terrible disease through a special program, CURE’s Kids Conquer Cancer One Day at a Time! Each day during the month of September CURE Childhood Cancer will recognize two special Cure kids who have been affected by childhood cancer. Please join Hull Barrett, PC on Thursday, September 30, 2010 in honoring Brennan Simkins and Patrick Chance by participating in Dress Down 4 Press On. On September 30th Hull Barrett employees will wear jeans in exchange for a $1 contribution to Press on 2 CURE Childhood Cancer! The goal is to raise awareness for much needed pediatric cancer and 100% of the funds raised will be granted to pediatric cancer research in the areas of AML/bone marrow transplantation and neuroblastoma. Hull Barrett hopes you and others in your organization will join us in participating & donating in this great cause.
