F. Michael Taylor

Mike has 33 years of trial experience. He has tried close to 100 cases to verdict in the State and Federal Courts. His litigation experience early on was varied and included both criminal and civil matters. Over time, he added the defense of trucking cases to his practice, however, over the last 10 years his practice has primarily focused on the defense of healthcare providers. Mike represents clients in cases related to general civil litigation, with an emphasis on medical malpractice defense.
Joan E. Smith

Joan E. Smith is a Partner at Hull Barrett with over 20 years of experience in the Family Courts of South Carolina and the Augusta Judicial Circuit family court. Her practice focuses on domestic litigation, including divorce, multimillion-dollar asset division, child custody and visitation, alimony, and legitimation of children. She frequently handles UCCJEA jurisdictional disputes and appellate work in both Georgia and South Carolina. She is also skilled in resolving cases through agreement or mediation without litigation.
Darren G. Meadows

Darren practices in the areas of real estate, corporate, transactional and local government law, with extensive experience in environmental and real estate title matters. He represents buyers, sellers, and lenders in real estate transactions and related issues, including zoning and construction applications and permits. He also advises and represents individual and corporate clients and their interests before state and federal regulatory agencies, as well as in negotiations and disputes with private parties. His extensive real estate experience includes the coordination and review of title research for the acquisition of regional water reservoirs encompassing several thousand acres and personally conducting title research in over half of Georgia’s 159 Counties. In addition to issuing title insurance for real estate transactions, Darren often acts as local counsel for title insurance companies for investigating and settling claims. Darren employs both business and environmental knowledge in coordinating and overseeing permit applications, due diligence efforts for real estate and corporate transactions, and managing both long and short-term environmental remediation projects. He has experience in soil erosion and storm water, wetlands, underground storage tanks (USTs) and above ground storage tanks (ASTs), hazardous waste, biomedical waste, solid waste, asbestos, waste water, water use permits (drinking water and irrigation), and air protection issues.
William J. Keogh III

Bill has a general civil trial practice and advises clients on contract and business disputes, commercial litigation, construction litigation, and in cases involving property valuation such as eminent domain (condemnations) and tax appeals. He has represented clients from various industries on such matters in both federal and state court, as well as in arbitrations, mediations, and special master proceedings.
Brooks K. Hudson

Brooks joined Hull Barrett, PC in 2011. As a partner in the litigation department, Brooks’ practice will focus on general civil litigation where he will handle a wide variety of complex litigation matters. Brooks will focus primarily on commercial litigation matters, including prosecuting and defending claims in complex business disputes, health care litigation, First Amendment litigation, class actions and criminal litigation. Prior to joining Hull Barrett, Brooks served as the Assistant District Attorney for the District Attorney’s Office where he conducted prosecutions on behalf of the State of Georgia and was appointed Special Drug Prosecutor. He also worked in the Public Defender’s Office in the Augusta Judicial Circuit where he represented defendants in numerous court proceedings. He has over ten years of experience handling criminal legal matters. He represented the State of Georgia as an assistant District Attorney for five years, prosecuting a wide range of felonies and misdemeanors. He worked as an attorney at the Public Defender’s office for a year and represented indigent defendants on a variety of misdemeanor and felony charges.
David E. Hudson

David practices in the area of general civil litigation with an emphasis on business and commercial disputes, media law and construction law. He has been a trial lawyer since 1974, and has represented clients at the trial court level in Georgia, South Carolina, Texas, and New York. He has also argued numerous appeals in the appellate courts of Georgia, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, and a case before the Supreme Court of the United States.
James B. Ellington

Jim has handled cases involving virtually every aspect of labor and employment law and is the senior member of the firm’s Labor and Employment Law Group. His commitment to clients transcends current cases, as he frequently counsels clients on new changes in the law and how they will affect clients’ employee relations. Jim’s general civil litigation practice emphasizes employment litigation, governmental liability and public employment litigation, civil rights litigation and media and communications law.
Davis A. Dunaway

Davis has over 15 years of experience trying cases in state and federal courts. His diverse and active trial practice has allowed him to represent clients in complex civil litigation matters including real estate litigation, title insurance defense, contract claims, bad faith claims, eminent domain and condemnation, construction disputes, bankruptcy matters, defending and pursuing personal injury claims, commercial litigation, landlord/tenant matters, and creditor rights and collections.

Chris practices in the area of business law with an emphasis in civil litigation. Chris has had considerable experience litigating complex business and commercial disputes, construction claims and class actions. He has tried numerous cases to jury verdict in both state and federal trial courts.
